WOYWW - 141

This is my desk as I left it last night, and ran away in fear! I've just ventured back in, plugged in my baby laptop to charge (great for blogging in bed!) and am now gawping at this lot:
At the back there's a new animal in our menagerie here - Len bought me the cute little white dog as a surprise yesterday, as if the lovely roses weren't enough. He'd noticed that I'm forever dusting over the laptop and the TV screen with the same duster that I use for flicking over the desk. So, he bought Dusty the Dog especially for places where I didn't ought to be spreading glitter and sticky bits :)

Yikes, the school reunion committee have asked me to make a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card. The couple that it's for met at our school and married not that long after leaving - and they're still blissfully happy all these years later. Oh, I do love happy endings :)

I've made a few very special Anniversary, Birthday and Wedding cards for the reunion committee to send in the past - when it's being sent with the best wishes of over 600 members they do like 'big and elaborate'. In case you're wondering, the Wedding card was for a widow and a widower who are in their 80's and met up again after about 50 years. Love blossomed and they too are blissfully wed - that was a real tear jerker I can tell you :)

So, on the desk we have backing papers, roses, lace, dies, ribbon, embossing folders and some sketches. Plus, and you can't see this, in front of the desk we have a very nervous crafter about to embark on slicing into those totally gorgeous embossed papers ........ and possibly make a right pigs ear of things! Less is More just isn't on the job sheet so there's gonna be a lot of head scratching going on to make it 'more' without it being 'tacky' :(

Happy WOYWW - remember, to see what everyone else is up to (it's bound to be a lot less stressed) - hop over to our Queen of WOYWW, Julia, and take a peek at who else has linked in today! Happy hopping :)

  6. I can understand why you are nervous to cut into those beautiful papers, but I know you will end up with a gorgeous card when you have finished. I agree that Less is More does not quite fit the bill on this one. It is striking the balance that is key to success, so I am looking forward to seeing your finished design. Have a good week. xx Maggie

  12. Hello Di, what a lovely romantic gesture from Len, I think ... though not everybody gets a duster, however cute, for Valentine's Day :) those papers, etc., do look gorgeous and is that Marianne heart dies I spot on your desk. I'm sure that the card will be stunning despite your hesitancy. Have a good day, whatever :) Elizabeth x #116

  13. I envy your organisation! And that little dusty dog, too :)
I have a baby laptop too. They are great, aren't they? My PC won't switch on- the on/off switch is dead. Frustrating as I bet everything else inside is ok. Have yet to take a screwdriver to it for investigation... so just as well Luvbug bought me the 'Little Epee' the other year, as there is no way I would get a look in on his laptop. He is never off it!

Thanks for the lovely offer of die cuts BTW!!!! You are so lovely to me!

  23. When you discover the secret to more is more better and not tacky, let me know. I feel I want to do MORE to my cards but I'm not wrapping my head around. I know how intimidating brand new uncut beautiful papers can be. Just close your eyes and... no, best to have them open.
